Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked National Guard Members to the White House
Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.
He added that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.
Presidential Call
The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Community Response
Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Revisions
Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to speak to the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
