The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
