In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.

This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A court order placed a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.

The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative claims that were widely condemned by several individuals.

Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and suggested they revealed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
