England's Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in December 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is only likely to be present for the first Test due to his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a role as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We will determine the outcome over the coming days."
English bowling legend Broad had declared the Australia side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which starts on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a bad Australian cricket team," Southee remarked.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [the English] side that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, prior to England head to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
