The Italian premier, Giorgia Meloni, plans to auction an estimated 270 gifts given to her by foreign dignitaries during her travels. The collection, together, have an approximate value of €800,000. They will be sold to the highest bidder by a Italian art dealer. The specific date has not been finalized, but the goal is to hold the auction before Christmas, with the revenue going to various charities.

These gifts reportedly stored in a secure area on the third floor of the government headquarters. Reports indicate that Meloni is also considering auction off gifts received by her political forerunners that have been stored away indefinitely.

The discussion focused on if a statutory cap on gift value was being respected. According to regulation, a prime minister must declare presents worth more than €300.
